When did you begin your career in the title or real estate industry and how did you get your start?
I am the 4th generation to be in the title business. My great grandfather ran a local title company and my grandfather purchased the business in 1960. My father later worked as a Closer & Manager for the company. I began working in the title industry as a runner and assistant when I was 18 years old. I moved to San Antonio when I was 21 and got a job with Fidelity Residential Solutions where I worked for 4 years. I took a job with the Stewart Title main office and was an escrow assistant for 1 year before moving back to Uvalde. Upon moving back in 2003 my father, sister and I purchased the local company. This was when I got my license and began managing the business, doing title searches, commitments, closings and policies. In 2010 I sold the title company and returned to school. I later returned to the company I sold to help the new owners and became an Escrow Officer again. In September of 2014 I accepted the SW Regional Managers position for Mission Title.
What is the most satisfying part of your role in the transaction process and what makes you stand out from others in your industry?
I believe that my uplifting and positive personality is what makes me stand out from others. I have a way of making people feel comfortable when in a closing. This is good because buying or selling property can be one of the largest decisions one can make in their lifetime.. I try to keep them relaxed and comfortable yet make sure that the closing process stays professional.
What factors from your past experience have contibuted the most to your current unique skill set?
My years of experience in the title industry have contributed the most to my unique skill set. I feel that because I am the 4th generation to work in the industry, it was my calling and is what I was meant to do in life. I have my bachelors of arts in cognitive studies and I have found that it has helped tremendously with my career in the title industry.
When you're away from the busy Mission Title office, what are some of your favorite activities ?
I bought a home in May of 2014 so I spend most of my down time doing home improvement. The house was a little outdated and needed a feminine touch. I enjoy chalk painting furniture and trying any new DIY project I find interesting on Pinterest. I find that working in the yard and being outside can be very therapeutic. In the summer, I spend most of my weekends laying by my parents pool and soaking up some vitamin D. I enjoy listening to music, going to concerts, and spending time with family and friends.
