When did you begin your career in the title or real estate industry and how did you get your start?
My career in the title industry began a little over 20 years ago, I started working part time for an Attorney and owner of First Mason Title Company in Mason, Texas located in the beautiful Hill Country. I knew within the first 6 months that this would be my lifelong career. At that time, I became the Manager of the law office and the title company.
What is the most satisfying part of your role in the transaction process and what makes you stand out from others in your industry?
The most satisfying part of my role as an Escrow Officer is helping our clients through the entire closing process. Whether it be working with new Buyers, Sellers, Real Estate Agents and Lenders or seasoned clients. I enjoy keeping all parties informed through the entire transaction. Buying and Selling property can present challenges and moving can be strenuous, so it makes me happy trying to lessen their burden. It truly brings me joy, to see a smile on the faces of my clients when they have experienced a smooth closing transaction. What makes me stand out from others in the industry is that I want everyone that walks through the doors of Mission Title to feel that they are important, and they will receive exceptional service from an Escrow Officer that is committed to excellence.
What factors from your past experience have contibuted the most to your current unique skill set?
When starting my career, I had to learn every aspect of managing a law office and title company. The Attorney I worked for demanded perfection, a rightfully so. I learned to read, understand and prepare legal documents. Within the title company, I learned every aspect of title from receipting the Contract, closing the transaction, examining title, preparing Commitments and Policies, working with Auditors, Surveyors and Attorneys. I am familiar with closing Residential, Commercial and large Farm and Ranch transactions. My most unique skill set would be that I have obtained the Certified Escrow Settlement Professional (CESP) and Certified Title Insurance Professional designations (CTIP) through Texas Land Title Association.
When you're away from the busy Mission Title office, what are some of your favorite activities ?
When I am not at my office in Castroville, I enjoy spending time with my husband of 34 years, our children and our Grandchildren. We love exploring together and seeking new adventures in our RV. I enjoy hiking, camping, deep-sea fishing, riding motorcycles, going to the gym and running. I am most happy being around water, whether it be the lake, river or seeing what the tide brings in at beach. I also very much enjoy supporting benefits and volunteering in any capacity that I am needed.
