Cramming for your real estate exam? Use these YouTube videos to prep

Whether you need to install a new water filter, open the hood of your car or pass your real estate exam, there’s a YouTube video to help you.

It can be a little overwhelming, though — we live in a time when everyone is trying to make it big on YouTube, so if you’re looking for a real estate exam prep tutorial, you’ll find yourself sifting through a never-ending feed of videos.

Unfortunately, we don’t all have never-ending time.

To save you the hassle, here’s a list of the top real estate exam prep YouTube accounts to get you through.

Among the group, you’ll find 23 videos that can help you prepare for your exam. That might seem like a lot, but don’t feel overwhelmed — we’ve broken them down into learning styles, so you won’t need to watch all of them to feel prepared. And some of them are so short that you can watch 12 in the same amount of time it would take you to watch the longest one.

1. Prep Agent

A YouTube account called Prep Agent has produced tons of real estate prep videos with hundreds of thousands of views.

The biggest testaments to his teaching style are the reviews on his videos.Katherine Quattlebaum's positive review of Agent Prep's Real Estate Exam preparedness video.Angela Vergara's positive review of Agent Prep's video.

The videos with the most views are Know your keywords for the real estate exam and 1 hour real estate exam crash course with Irene. He has many others, but based on views, these seem to be the best.

Both include the instructor helping a student prepare for the exam, which makes it easy for you to put yourself in the place of the student to answer questions.

Choosing between the two depends on your style of learning. Think back to when you were in high school or college. How did you cram for important exams?

If you did well with flash cards, go with Know your keywords for the real estate exam. He goes over important key terms that you’ll see on the exam, like real property, riparian rights and estate at sufferance.

His goal is to help you remember shortened definitions for each of these terms that demonstrate your understanding. He does this with pneumonic devices and acronyms.

While he acknowledges that the definitions he uses won’t necessarily be on the exam, he argues that learning to explain these key terms briefly demonstrates understanding of the concept. When you understand a concept, you’re prepared to answer questions that include it.

The 1 hour real estate exam crash course with Irene webinar focuses on possible exam questions and potentially confusing topics. Questions are explained in terms of key concepts, and each concept is reviewed in depth, meaning you’ll learn a great deal more than just the definitions.

This video is supposed to be a complete crash course for the real estate exam. Theoretically, you don’t need to watch any other video to prepare for your exam. However, if you’re going to watch both, watch the keywords video first — it’ll give you the background information you need to answer certain questions.

2. Real estate agent test cram

Ray Suarez takes a different approach to preparing students for exams. He has a series of videos that go over concepts as a whole. Consider his videos as an outline of each concept.

They’re similar to what your teacher used to put up on the board during class. If you’re an adamant note taker, these are the videos for you.

Altogether, Suarez created four cram videos. They’re short — each about 8 minutes long — so it’s easy to go back and review a specific concept without having to skim through a long video. They’re also easy to listen to multiple times.

These videos are very easy to digest. If you’re a fan of this style, you’ll be happy to know Prep Agent makes videos similar to these as well — his are just much longer.

3. Real estate math

For many of us, the math portion of the real estate exam is the hardest. It’s not the type of thing we do on a normal basis as professionals, but it is important that we know the information when we need it.

Wayne Dolan goes through all of the math formulas and question types that you’ll see on the exam in a series of 17 videos called Real estate math. These videos are about five minutes each.

Dolan is a teacher for the Coldwell Banker Gundaker School of Real Estate, and he knows his stuff.

I highly recommend you watch this series before taking the exam. While real estate concepts are critical, the math is a problem area for many people.
