Thriving real estate agents who decide to build a team may not have very much experience hiring help, and that can become a big problem when you’re growing fast and turnover is sky-high. It’s always best to hire your A-team from the start, the people who will support and manage that growth with you.
Madan Nagaldinne, chief people officer at Compass, has experience building top teams from the ground up, and he’ll be sharing his tips for how to hire the right people at the right time in the right roles at Inman Connect San Francisco, July 17 through 20 at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square.
To hire the right people, you need to “ask yourself what you want from the job you’ve posted, and have a strong conviction about what the job is,” Nagaldinne said. “If you don’t know that, you’re going to be assessing people based on your emotions or your mood for the day instead of based on the skill sets that the job requires.”
For an early-career agent, Nagaldinne advises seeking out candidates with “a high degree of scrappiness, thinking on your feet, the ability to work the clock without feeling exhausted, and a passion for real estate.”
Learn more about how Nagaldinne interviews the best candidates to build A-teams all over the country for Compass — and how he knows when it’s time to expand and which roles to hire first, second and last — at Inman Connect San Francisco this July.
