Government data began to flow again last week, but we’ll be in catch-up mode for the rest of the year.The most significant data of the week revealed that the employment picture for September wasstronger than expected. 119,000 new jobs were created, while the unemployment rate ticked upwardas more folks entered the job market. Outside of government data, Existing Home Sales movedupward another 1.2%. Not all data was positive, with Consumer Sentiment slipping again and itssubcomponent for current conditions hitting an all-time low.   This holiday-shortened week could see more market volatility as the debate over the Fed’s Decembermeeting heats up. While the positive economic data might signal that the Fed can stand pat on rates,the data is still dated. We have very little insight into what October’s data will look like, and with theFed meeting scheduled for December 9-10, we could be short on November data too.
