Opendoor, a popular real estate startup that lets homesellers offload their properties online, will be opening an engineering office in Atlanta — the first engineering office outside of its home base in San Francisco, according to a recent report by VentureBeat.

Launched in San Francisco in 2013, Opendoor works by offering home sellers an instant cash offer for their homes online (determined by a proprietary algorithm), and then reselling the properties it purchases back to other buyers, using technology to offer streamlined open houses on-demand. After quickly expanding to growing to an estimated worth of $2 billion on private funding, the iBuyer is clearly not slowing down anytime soon.

The new office, which will reportedly have 20 engineers by the end of 2018. The company has offices in Phoenix, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Orlando, Raleigh-Durham and Charlotte while also posting job listings in Minneapolis and Nashville.

According to VentureBeat, Opendoor currently has 650 employees, 60 of which already work in sales and operations in Atlanta. Even though its business model seemed novel at the time of launch, Opendoor soon skyrocketed in popularity and has seen many other competitors emerge, including Offerpad and Knock.
